Guinea Pig Fruit, Vegetables & Wild Plants
List of Safe Foods - Plants & Pictures Below
* Try to vary the fresh food given if you can, do not allow cavies to have access to fruit/veg 24/7. A handful per pig per day is plenty, you do not want to overfeed vegetables *
A list to show the huge variation of foods guinea pigs can and do enjoy. I'm sure there is more out there, if you would like anything added please contact me. This list is not complete. This is merely a rough guide
Do not over complicate vegetable/fruit feeding. There is really no need too. Everything in moderation. You do not need to remove soft seeds from fruits/veggies. Many pigs enjoy the seed part more than the flesh. They have 20 teeth to nom through foods. They could potentially choke on anything (hay, pellet feed etc). They are unlikely to choke on a seed.
* Please note when picking wild plants/grasses etc , ensure they haven't been sprayed by pesticides etc , Do not buy the plants from supermarkets, its likely they have been treated *
